Bundaberg is a thriving city with strong growth on population and commerce. As a major provincial city it is the largest single retail centre between Brisbane and Rockhampton.
Its major industries comprise of facets of the sugar industry including distilling and cane harvester manufacturing; project engineering management, small crops, forestry, livestock, agriculture, fishing and marine, food and beverages, construction, plastics, light aircraft manufacturing, metal casting, machining and tourism.
Agro Trend, held each May in Bundaberg show cases the region's products. A significant aspect of the Bundaberg region is the superb lifestyle set in a healthy family environment with a range of cultural recreational and sporting activities.
Education is well provided for with a network of state and private schools through to a TAFE
College and Campus of the University of Central Queensland.
BACAS, the Bundaberg Area Community Apprentice and Training Scheme operates a group training program for apprentices and trainees. Skillshare is a community based organization running training courses for the disadvantaged and unemployed. Concept Training is a private provider conducting labour market programs.
